Beginning of an Exploration

Does love actually happen at first sight? I’ve perhaps fallen in love many times, and  risen in love a few times too! But still I can’t definitely say that I ever fell in love at the first sight. What happens at the first sight may be merely termed as some kind of attraction; but to term it “love” may be an over-estimation.

I have fallen in love with people, places, books, schools, colleges, students, and technologies. I have been awed many a times, surprised a lot more times. But to be in love, I needed more than one glimpse. Perhaps because I equate love with some sort of addiction, which changes the brain circuitry forever. It’s a little strange for me to find out that I have not been addicted with things which people normally fall for. But time and again, I have been captivated with the power of technology and the impact of information.
A child who wanted to be a professor of Bengali in a small town in Bengal and thought of enjoying an idle evening sipping a cup of tea and a book of Tagore on the lap, jumped into pursuing a course in Information Technology, giving in to the expectation of parents, pressure of peers and lure of money. But the attraction of money and a higher degree made the course little longer, driving the young man to learn about Management. But was the man in love with these? I doubt, strongly. So, the management educated young man left dreams of a Ferrari in pursuit of happiness and see what happened! He got back to the roots of distributing knowledge, his third generation in this business (if academics can be said so, although I have strong reservation for this terminology). And here comes a man with a dream to know more about the influence of information technology, especially social media, in management processes and people’s lives in general.
But still I have doubt whether I can call it love. And definitely, this is not love at first sight. I shall perhaps tell these stories some time later, provided I start to enjoy sharing my thoughts through blogs. I have forced myself to love blogging many a times! But love does not happen by force, and does not happen at the first sight too. In my earlier attempts I did not find it attractive enough to spare it a second sight. Hope, this time I find this medium more interesting!
Oh, I forgot to tell you why I started this blog with the mention of love! Or did I actually have any reason behind mentioning love? Is it only because today is Valentine’s Day? I am confused, as a typical researcher who is in the middle of his research work! Or am I falling in love, yet again?
